Sai Baba :: essays research papers

On November 23, 1926, in a remote vill mature in southern India, Sai Baba was born and given the family name of Satyanarayana Raju. He was one of the person born for success. Many stories began that after Sathya was born, strange "miracles" were beginning to occur. His was different from the children around him, and his actions and behaviors were plain very strange. He was a vegetarian, unlike the rest of his family. He lived opposite his parents in a way that his life was nothing like theirs. At the age of 13, Sathya received some sort of pain in his foot. He was unconscious for a day, and when he awoke, his behavior had awkwardly changed. People believed that he was possessed by an evil spirit. In 1940, people began to call Sathya an incarnation of God. Sathya corrected this accusation intimately by telling his father that he wasnt an incarnation of God, but of a Moslem holy man, named Sai Baba of Shirdi. He had passed away in 1918, eight years before Sathyas birth. Sathya s fame was widely spread when the stories of his "miracles" were passed on. He was known to heal the sick, and the blind. He also protected those who needed help. Sathya has physically appeared in two places at the same time and he has raised several people from the dead. The way Sathyas miracle stories have been passed on, reminds me of how Jesus stories were passed on, and easily believed. They both healed the blind, the sick, helped the needy. But it is obvious that Sathya could never be compared to Jesus.Sathyas teachings have influenced many people, and have caused more than 10, 000 service organizations throughout the world. There are thousands of pursual that have lived by the words and teachings of Sathya.

red river valley :: essays research papers

Red River Valley The movie Red River Valley, is a B-western that genuinely portrays the way life was in the early 1900s. The music in the movie really place the moods, and gives you a better understanding of whats going on. The song that opens up the movie has a fast tempo that is played what sounds like a trumpet. Then we are introduced to Gene Autry and his partner, frog Millhouse. The two were tending cattle and seemed to be pretty skilled at it. Then Gene and his partner set out to help build a dam to bring water into the dry land. They will take on the task of being ditch guards at the dam. The cowboy music in the movie starts when Gene and Frog walk into the towns saloon. There is a band up on constitute that is playing a fast tempo song. They are playing with a guitar, piano, harmonica, and other exotic looking instru manpowerts, like a bottle that the band appendage blows into. The men at the saloon are dancing, drinking, playing checkers, and seem to be having a good t ime. Then Gene and Frog leave the saloon and go to the dam. In the beginning of the scene, a fast pace song that is played with trumpets starts to play, which made me think that the scene would have a lot of natural process in it. The two men go to work on the dam, but Gene realized that they were set up, and there was dynamite that was about to explode. But he uses his quick wit, and they escape with no harm. After that the two men go back to the saloon to perform on stage. Gene Autry sings and plays the guitar very well up on stage. His voice has a baritone/high pitch sound to it, but he sounds like he has skill. Then after Gene, his partner Frog gets up on stage to perform. Frog uses the whole band and their many different instruments while he sung about his trusty forty-five. The duo was a crowd pleaser, and they left the saloon immediately after performing. Then there is a scene with group of men walking and singing together with shovels. The men sing with a very deep, bass so unding tone. These men are the guys that are working to build the dam, and they are upset because they arent getting paid.

Emperor Hirohito Essay

Emperor Hirohito ruled for 53 years, during those years, Japanese civilians invaded China, the Rape of Nanking happened, they attacked Pearl Harbor and Japan go up to become the world second economic superpower. He was the first Japanese Emperor to be welcomed into Europe. He married at age 16, was crowned prince in November 1921. He died in his 80s of a sickness c solelyed Myocardial Infraction. In his early vivification at age 7 he was taught suitable behavior by Maresoke Nayi at Peers School. Also, his parents hired two Confucian tutors for him to learn.A few years later at age 11 his father was crowned Emperor because the formal Emperor had died of old age. Hirohito was to marry at age 16 to a young Princess which name is Nagako Kuni who was only 14 at the time. Before he had married the princess he went and traveled around Europe and was the first Japanese prince who was welcomed by the royal queen herself. During the time he had traveled he became very interested in the stud y of Marine Science. He also developed an interest in golf, drinking tea and feeding bread. After coming back from Europe he changed the law that said that royal family members could not travel the world and make new traditions. His main earnestness was watching how in Europe tidy sum could do as they please and not get judge for it. Around that same time his family had heard a rumor that said the Princess Nagako Kuni was colorblind, so Hirohitos family stubborn to delay the wedding until they figured everything out. They didnt get married until a year later in 1924. Just a couple of years later he had to become Emperor because of his father death (due to a mental illness).People refused to him as a god because of the way he ruled. Also, because nobody ever saw him. Hirohito was mavin and only(a) who believed in democratic politics over any other thing. Due to this he everyone believed that Japan wanted to go to war with every single country. So many people had judged him very harshly for not putting himself together in the right time before the war. And his own military wanted to get someone more worthy of the thrown, not Hirohito. It was hard on him and even more because of the surprise attack f the two atomic bombs which were dropped an August 6-9, 1945 (ONeil 1). Nobody knew what to do or how to do it. The only person that knew what to do was Hirohito. He had decided to surrender to Great Britain and United States and to see if that would make his people follow him again. Or maybe put him on their good graces. He ordered his political science to make an unconditional surrender. Hirohito had to make a fast action and an effective plan for seizing power (ONeil 1). Even though he had to do all those things he never wanted to give in to those countries. He knew he could do better if he had done some military service. But he didnt he had married young and did everything so fast due to his fathers death. But still no one gave him the credit for doing it. Fo r this, he deserves considerable credit (ONeil 1). He toured Europe in 1971, the first reigning Japanese monarch to visit abroad, and traveled to the United States in 1975 (Leaders 1). He was one of the first Japanese Emperors to do this. Later on in life he wrote a few books on Marine Science. It was one of the things that interested him in his younger ages.He has 7 children named Akihito, Prince Hitachi, Atsuko Lkeda, Takako Shimazu, Shigeko Higashikuni, Kazuko Takasukasa, and Princess Hisa Sachiko. Hirohitos reign was designated Showa, or Enlightened Peace (Leaders 1). But some people were relieved when he died and his son Crown Prince Akihito became Emperor. Even though they were glad there were disappointed because the Prince had married a commoner. Some contemporaries who lived in his time were Hitler and Hideki Tojo. Their roles in his life were that both of them had lived in the same days as Hirohito. And they never met in person but they had heard of each other. Emperor Hiro hito was a very valuable person in his days because of the way he had treated his people he didnt make any decisions with out considering the way they would have tangle about it. After the war he had said That most unfortunate war, which I deeply deplore. The main reason he had said that was because of all the people who had lost their life just because of that war. Another quote he had said was I made efforts to swallow tears and to protect the Japenese Nation.

Long Term Care

What is long term fright? Long-term care refers to a collection of services that are intended to meet the medical and non-medical of necessity of disabled or chronic everyy ill patients. These services include social, medical/nursing, and community services. They often require assisting the patient or patients in performing periodical tasks like dressing, bathing and eating. Long-term care can be provided for anybody and can be performed in a nursing home, in the individuals residence or in assisted living centers. What is continuum of care services in the United States? Continuum of care is a concept involving an integrated system of care that guides and tracks patient over meter through a comprehensive array of health services spanning all levels of intensity of care, providing a framework to guide day-to-day decision-making and providing a framework for auction pitch of optimum health care to patient populations.Basically what that means is that it allows for you as a patient t o have your care managed effectively from basic care, like prescriptions and making appointments, to to a greater extent advanced care, like in-hospital and critical care. It creates the medical community where the doctors and ancillary staff involved in your treatment all communicate regarding your diagnoses, procedures, treatments etc. It links all your services and avoids duplicating them. Meaning, your primary care orders tests that your specialists dont repeat.Everyone sees everything and it allows for better treatments Why is long term care one of the greatest challenges facing the healthcare delivery system nowadays? Why I think it has become a challenge is because a lot adults in this world rather put their parents into long term care than taking care of them, and it costs thousands of dollars to be able to pay for that kind of treatment. Some people have that kind of money and some dont, to up to now up consider putting their parents into a facility.Because of the great number of adults now reaching 65 and retirement age, as well as reaching the time in life when medical problems increase. Many seniors also are living alone & may need help at home as they age. Also umpteen children have moved away due to out of state jobs, so the seniors are alone. Some have medical problems and they will need or do need help with physical care & meals, and before there were many family members living together, still now everyone wants to be independent. Many seniors want to remain in their homes, but living on a limited income, they can no longer pay mortgages & high taxes. Does everyone really want to give up their independence, their homes, their pets, their flowerbeds, their cars and their privacy to swipe up in a facility where they dont know anyone & may have to share a bedroom with someone who they may in fact dont even like? Its always better for people to be able to stay in their own homes, but how on a fixed income.

Compare how a sense of claustrophobia is built up in the Handmaids Tale and an Evil Cradling

Margret Atwoods fictive autobiography The Handmaids Tale And Brian Keenans autobiography, An Evil Cradling documenting his kidnapping by fundamentalist Shiite militiamen both present a experience of claustrophobia. Each novel presents tional. strophobia Keenan the manifestation of claustrophobia within the protagonists. An Evil Cradling presents Keenans physical claustrophobia as a hostage and the emotional entrapment. both authors successfully create a reek of claustrophobia whilst exploring the different situations of both protagonists. Both Offred and Keenans livelihoodstyles appear even more claustrophobic in contrast to their previous lives. There is an asymmetry in the presentation of a sense experience of claustrophobia within and between the two novels. Whilst on the ane hand, both writers deal with the notion of claustrophobia as having a negative consequence on their lives. On the other hand the life of the main protagonists before their captive state is presented with consider open releases. These differences be exemplified in the opening chapters of both texts.Keenan in his exploration of life before captivity seems to suggest life was not all that tranquil and certainly not with come on its problems before he was taken captive in the Lebanon, where cardinal might imagine the root of all his problems with claustrophobia began. In the preface Keenan states, I was brought up in that harsh, divided landscape of Northern Irish, working class and I went into with all its baggage. Furthermore he claims in his first chapter, Before I left Belfast, I had been torn with a desperate kind of love and hatred for my place. Both statements from the two parts of Keenans book, show that his life, as he puts it himself, was a type of cul-de-sac. This metaphor for a dead-end shows that Keenan was no more free in his native Ireland, so much that he was forced to seek mental comfort elsewhere. The entire opening chapter of an evil cradling highlights Keenans disconnection with his country and how he tangle trapped and a sense of claustrophobia in a place so familiar to him. Contrastingly, Atwood presents her protagonist as having a far more affectionate, possibly rose wine tinted view on her life before taken into captivity. In Atwoods A Handmaids Tale Offred conveys a large amount of nostalgia towards her past. In the opening chapter Atwood contrasts the senses of the past. The lights argon vividly expound as a revolving ball of mirrors, powdering the dancers with a snow of light. Atwood chooses this poetic metaphor to show her fondness towards previous times. Atwood describes the simplicity of the lights under the regime The lights were turned mass but not out. Offreds feelings of extreme claustrophobia are exacerbated through with(predicate) the juxtaposition of the former senses. In Offreds case she is more sensitive towards these feelings of granting immunity.Offred is a victim of moderate entrapment that has been likely i n her society for many years chapter 28 reveals the gradual oppression of women Things continued in that state of suspended animation for weeks Newspapers were censored roadblocks began to appear, and identipasses by unc everywhereing women of their political and social rights the Gileadean regime came to power. Offred uses listing to highlight the continuous changes in society, specifically directed at women, showing her own shock and resentment towards her gradual confinement. Offred does not only demonstrate nostalgia towards her past in the opening chapters.Atwood constantly uses similes throughout that are reminiscent of the past. These similes present an work from the routine regime they a lot involve the senses which allow Offred to escape the regime by remembering and juxtaposing elements and senses of the past. Its almost like June, Offred shifts in mental perspective via association of seasons, Offreds memories of the seasons are superimposed over Gileads charade of n ormality, it is as though Offred escapes into her own private narrative underneath her imprisonment as a handmaid her recollections act as freedom from the past. Both Offred and Keenans sense of claustrophobia is intensified by the way that their human rights are no longer recognised and they have no freedom of choice. Keenans beard is used in The Devils Barbershop to symbolise his dignity and freedom of choice. Keenan is very reluctant to have his beard shaved off his behaviour becomes the manifestation of claustrophobia. He becomes attached to his beard and it symbolises his freedom of expression, Ive had this beard for too long for some halfwit who thinks he owns me to make me what he wants me to be. Throughout this passage Keenan uses long sentences that highlight his heightened emotions, Keenans aggressive tone towards his captors also shows his falter to change, Keenans identity is displayed through his beard and similarly to Offred he is being made to conform and accept his c laustrophobic surroundings. In The Handmaids Tale Offred is defined by her uniform, and looses her previous identity. This expresses that in Gilead their lives have become so claustrophobic that even their ability to express themselves has been repressed.Offred feels trapped in a system which rigidly controls women. The colour cryptogram of womens clothes indicates that in this society their individual identities are lost in prescribed roles. Everything except the wings around my face is red the colour of blood, which defines us a sister, dipped in blood. Atwood uses this negative metaphor to highlight Offreds feelings towards loosing her individuality. Offreds uniform in addition acts as a physical restriction, The white wings they are to keep us from seeing, but also from being seen. It is made apparent that their clothes are also a way of physically restricting them as way of control, deliberately designed to limit the Handmaids view. The blood red is a constant reminder of the vilification of women in Giliadean society. Blood red is symbolised throughout the novel and acts as a constant reminder to Offreds role in society, although her role as a child barer allows her more freedom under the regime it is also the one thing that traps her. The description of the characters surroundings and routines present a sense of claustrophobia, Offreds account of going out and doing the daily shopping illustrates this.Under the Gileadaen regime the Handmaids never went out unaccompanied, this partnership system provided both chaperones and spies. Offred considers the image of both women dressed identically in red, thinking of them as doubles, both visually and in circumstances. The truth is that she is my spy, as I am hers. Each woman traps the other. However, a suggestion of freedom is present in the structure of the two novels. For Keenan, his ability to let his mind waver in times of extreme captivity has been vital to his survival.Keenan changes tenses abruptly, from describing the cell, to a present time, showing the way in which his mind jumps, to escape his present situation. However, in Into the scratch line Basket Keenans senses were shut down by the tight confinement of the tape which will not let my mind escape. Now that even his mind cannot escape he feels as if a riot is bursting out within my senses which further reflects how his repressed senses are desperate to escape the confinement, without his freedom of mind Keenan finds himself completely trapped.Correspondingly, Offred is able to escape into her private world of memory and desire. Offred uses storytelling as a means of personal survival her narrative is the only way of bridging the gap between an unaffectionate self and the world outside. It is also a story I am telling, in my head, as I go along. Offred is able to escape the intense feelings of claustrophobia through expressing her feelings. Atwood chooses short sentences to emulate the natural nature of speech resul ting in a flowing structure.Fear plays a main role in increasing the sense of physical claustrophobia experienced by both Keenan and Offred. In into the bread basket Keenan uses imagery that creates associations with death I am being embalmed and mummified and I am going endorse to the coffin. This demonstrates how in such claustrophobic conditions where all his senses have been effectively shut off he is completely helpless and that in these cramped dark conditions the difference between life and death becomes uncertain.Keenan carries on this extended metaphor in the oxymoron a living corpse this again reflects the negative experience of being in such claustrophobic conditions. Finally, both authors have used literary and structural techniques to reveal the many ways in which claustrophobia can be created and intensified. Although the two protagonists situations are very different, as Offred lives a controlled and limited life and Keenan one of absolute entrapment they show many similar traits and emotions triggered from their individual feelings of claustrophobia.
